For this internship I did my work virtually by meeting with my supervisor at the INL every week and other members of teams at the Bureau. During the semester I did small projects for the Mexico and Venezuela teams. I also conducted literary analysis on Mexico border security and congressional research.

This spring I joined the Boyle County Chamber of Commerce as their communications. I had many duties that made me contribute to the local community such as promoting socially distanced events, interviewing business members of the community for the weekly newsletter, and spreading time-sensitive updates. The academic side made me improve on my writing and marketing skills as well as gaining insight on how the Danville Boyle County Chamber of Commerce helps the local economy operate.

Office of Sustainability Intern at Centre College
At our internship, we studied AASHE's STARS rating system and researched highest-ranking STARS universities. We also hosted listening sessions with students focused on on-campus sustainability and reported back to Dr. Werner and the Sustainability Subcommittee. Lastly, we attended bi-weekly Sustainability Subcommittee meetings in addition to Nexus meetings with other subcommittees, which we wrote executive summaries on to give to Mr. Hutzley.

Equine-Assisted Therapy Intern, Équre
In my internship, I learned specific techniques in equine-assisted therapy and play therapy to treat children with a variety of disabilities and challenges. I played a large role in caring for the horses, preparing them for therapy, and training. Once I had to return to the states due to the COVID-19 pandemic in mid-March, I was able to continue my internship by researching and presenting on a variety of topics related to equine-assisted therapy and having video calls with the clients and my horses as a form of virtual therapy when in-person therapy was no longer possible. Through this experience, my vocabulary and fluency in Spanish has improved dramatically, as well as my interpersonal skills, including learning when to listen and observe, and when to take a more active role, sharing my own knowledge and area of expertise with horses.

Human Right Data Analyst Intern at Human Rights Measurement Initiative (HRMI)
HRMI is a collaborative venture working to produce a free, easy-to-access database of metrics, summarizing human rights performance in countries around the world. As a Human Rights Data Analyst for HRMI, I worked to analyze HRMI's rights tracker data, study Human Rights performance in various low- and high-income countries and present them to Human Rights Defenders around the world.

Centre Bonner Program Intern
As Bonner Intern, I was able to work on logistics regarding the program and plan for our Spring semester. Many of the logistics focused on the bettering of our program and ensuring that all Bonners were being heard regarding what they wanted our program to look like. Many of these logistics were dealt with through program evaluations and check in meetings. The academic side to my focused on me applying for the Racial Justice Community Fund and developing proposal writing skills. I had to do tons of research for the proposal and ensure I knew what I was writing about.

The Plus Planet is an Accessible Tourism Company that is based in Italy. It does a lot of event planning and trip planning on behalf of people who are disabled and/or elderly. My responsibilities primarily involved the translation of the company's website and blog posts from Italian to English, as well as doing research on our competitors' websites.

I worked to make sure the needs of the lobbyists were taken care of when interacting with legislators and clients. I would sit in on committee hearings and legislative chamber meetings, as well as crafting paperwork on client priorities, legislator information, and bill movements. Working in a psychiatric clinic in Nashville, TN, I was given opportunities to shadow Dr. Cochran and staff in the treatment of affective disorders. Primarily, my shadowing and research experience was aimed at individuals with Major Depressive Disorder and treating them with Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) procedure. This advanced my understanding of running a medical practice, experience in psychiatric medicine, and further developed what I have accumulated from my academic courses of Behavioral Neuroscience and Psychology at Centre College.

Virtual Environmental Conservation Intern at ASVO/Costa Rica
I worked on various projects focusing on raising awareness for environmental issues, such as plastic pollution, in Costa Rica, as well as creating promotional materials to encourage international volunteering. I researched the varied ecosystems and ongoing conservation efforts at each of ASVO’s sites and designed informational materials based on my findings.

Through this internship, I was conducting and compiling research and analysis for two main tasks. Citizen Science Water Quality Research with KWRRI and Watershed Engagement Study with Bluegrass Greensource
With Bluegrass Greensource, I worked to expand stakeholder engagement in Lindsie Nicholas' focus watersheds as well as empower stakeholders to lead their own projects. With the Kentucky Water Resources Research Institute, I worked with Steven Evans to process a Kentucky Division of Water 2010 nutrient dataset to establish percentile thresholds for Watershed Watch Kentucky (WWKY) basins. I additionally went in the field with Malissa McAlister to perform "informal", or citizen science, water quality and quantity techniques and collect data using these techniques."

Physical Therapist Intern
As a physical therapist intern, I was able to experience what a physical therapist's workday consists of while getting a hands-on experience. I was able to watch physical therapists with their patients, help prepare exercises for patients, and instruct patients how to perform certain exercises. Altogether, this was a very informative and positive experience that made me fall in love with the field of physical therapy even more.
