Description

Temporary employee at St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge hired to design and complete a gopher tortoise population survey using line transect distance sampling techniques. Completed the survey, analyzed data and wrote a report for FWS. Also helped with prescribed burns across the refuge.

Caitlyn,

I was glad to learn that you were able to use ecological techniques that I'm sure you  have talked about in your classes--sampling, GIS, controlled burns--and saw first-hand the application of ecological concepts, such as keystone species. Are there any efforts to breed gopher tortoises in captivity and release the offspring into this (or other) preserves?
